Trying to show off my Flatiron Shawl on a windy day!

March 23, 2020

Trying to show off my Flatiron Shawl on a windy day!

I thought I’d take this opportunity to show you what I’ve recently finished crocheting and what I’m just about to start working on.

My recently completed piece is The Flatiron Shawl by pattern designer TL Yarn Crafts. The photo was taken on a windy day at Felixstowe. I love to use good quality yarn so chose Emma’s Yarn Super Silky base in Briar Rose, Wish you were Beer and Bohemian Market. I am over the moon with how the shawl has turned out and everyone that’s seen it has commented on how lovely it is in terms of the pattern design, the quality of the yarn and the cleverness of the colours.

For my next piece I have decided to crochet the Skyward Kerchief by TL Yarn Crafts. It is a triangle scarf that is made using a mesh pattern. This will be uncharted territory for me as the pattern calls for a strand of mohair to be held together with sock weight Merino, something I have never done before. Watch this space!

The yarn I have chosen to use for this piece is Emma’s Practically Perfect Sock and Marvellous Mohair, both in the After Party colourway.

I will post updates on Instagram as I progress through the pattern.

Meanwhile, hubby continues to build Lego.....

I don’t know about you but lockdown has been such a mixed bag of emotions.
I started lockdown in March with high hopes and long lists of plans. As time has gone on, my motivation has fluctuated and I have often found myself being far less productive than I had originally hoped. Even my motivation to crochet hasn’t always been there and I thought that would never be the case!

When I was growing up my mum would always have a knitting project on the go. Usually it would be a scarf or cardigan for herself or a jumper for dad, although his stock joke would always be that whenever mum knitted for him...
