Rowan Yarns was established in 1978 above a grocery shop in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. The company initially specialised in weaving supplies and knitting kits. They later started to produce high quality yarns to cater to the blossoming hand knitting trend. Today, Rowan Yarns works with some of the best designers in the world including Lisa Richardson, Martin Storey, Erika Knight and more. Their mission is to offer a selection of high-quality yarns paired with designer-led inspiration that their followers will find a pleasure to knit with and to wear.

Founded in the midst of the hand-knitting boom of the 70s and 80s, Rowan Yarn is now a well-established yarn company recognised throughout the world.
Originally from Yorkshire, they are known for producing a range of high-quality yarns and fibres as well as pattern books. Their iconic knitting magazine has been running since 1986.
Rowan has attracted a community of talented designers who have all left their influence on the company. The most well-known is Kaffe Fassett, whose bold and colourful designs combine perfectly with Rowan’s wide pallet of colours.
