How is yak wool harvested?
The process for harvesting yak fibre is very similar to the one used to harvest cashmere fibre. When the yak are naturally shedding in the spring, the loose wool is combed out.
How to wash yak wool
We recommend handwashing anything made using yak wool in cool water with a gentle detergent. Always following the instructions on the yarn band for the best result.
What does yak wool feel like?
Yak wool is described as feeling like a combination of alpaca and cashmere. It is very soft with excellent insulating properties. Yak live in some of the coldest environments on earth, so it makes sense that their wool is very warm!
