Returns & Refunds

We hope that you are pleased with your purchase from us here at Yarn Worx and are grateful that you chose to support an independent business like us, thank you!

We want you to be delighted with your order.  However, if there is a problem, we will do our best to help.


If you wish to return all of part of your order, you must inform us within 14 days of receiving it.  You must then return the goods to us within a further 14 days. This is in line with the current UK Consumer Contracts Regulations.  

To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it.  Any box or packaging must also be intact and in full saleable condition. If the item or packaging is damaged upon return, we reserve the right to deduct damages from any refund given.

Any items which have their own outer box such as Umbrella Swifts or yarn winders MUST be packaged safely in a separate box. Please DO NOT return these items by attaching labels or writing directly on the items own box as we will not be able to accept your return in this instance. 

Unfortunately we are unable to accept returns of skeins which you requested to be wound for you prior to delivery.

If you have entered any part of your delivery address incorrectly, we are not liable for non-delivery. If your items are returned to us because of this, we reserve the right to charge a re-shipping fee, should you want the items re-shipped. We also reserve the right to refund the goods only value should you no longer want the goods.

To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase.  Please do not send your purchase back to the manufacturer.

We are happy to exchange items for you but this will incur a reshipping fee. 

We do not accept returns of gift cards, magazines, books or printed patterns. 


Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.

If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days.  Please note, card issuers have differing timescales for processing refunded payments.

If your goods were sent with Free Shipping, we will deduct the cost of shipping from the refund issued to you.

If you received complimentary gifts with your order, please ensure that these are returned.  If they are not returned with your order, the cost of these gifts will be deducted from your refund. This means that you will receive a goods only refund minus the £4.49 cost of originally shipping your order.

Large returns will incur a restocking fee of 5% of the value of the items returned. This will be deducted from your refund amount issued.

If you return an item which you claim to be faulty, we reserve the right to send this back to the supplier/manufacturer for testing and inspection.  Upon the outcome, if the item is proven as faulty, a full refund would be issued. 
If the manufacturer proves that there is actually no fault with the product, this invalidates your right to a refund. 

A refund of payment for a class will be given for cancellations only if the spot can be filled by another student, minus a 10% admin fee. Please be considerate.

We reserve the right to cancel a class in unusual circumstances. We try to avoid this wherever possible, but sometimes it cannot be avoided. In this situation, of course, a full refund will be given.

Excluded items

The following items are not eligible for refunds:

  • Gift cards
  • Downloadable items
  • Classes / Courses / Workshops
  • Perishables such as books and magazines
  • Discontinuted items or items bought on Sale


We only replace items if they are defective or damaged.  Please note that is is normal for skeins to have joins in them.

Return Shipping Costs

To return your product, please email us at and we can discuss your return.

Any unwanted items must be returned at your own expense and we will not reimburse you for these costs. You will then receive a goods only refund.

We recommend returning goods using a tracked service.  We are not responsible for your items if you use an un-tracked service and the goods become lost.

International / Overseas Returns

You are still welcome to return your goods if you live outside of the UK.
Please note that you are responsible for the return postage costs.

If sending from outside of the EU, please mark your customs declaration as not having any value as if any customs duties are payable on return to the UK, this will be deducted from your refund.
